I grew up in Louisville, KY and was active in field hockey, snow skiing (in Indiana, unfortunately!) and competitive figure skating from age 6 to 18. I always wanted to know how to get over an ache or an injury the fastest way possible to get back out there! My younger brother underwent a spinal fusion when I was in high school which introduced me to another side of rehabilitation. I studied Sports Medicine at UVa (Go Hoos!) and went down to Emory University in Atlanta, GA for my Master's in Physical Therapy. I returned to Charlottesville, VA in 1997 and have enjoyed being part of a small but active community. I have worked in several different settings over the past 29 years, from inpatient rehab, to directing a community re-entry brain injury program, to long-term care, and back to outpatient orthopedics 20 years ago. I enjoy treating a variety of diagnoses across the age spectrum. I use a functional approach, investigating one's posture/positions and habits, along with evidence-based guidelines, to determine a cause for discomfort and assist in the healing process. I believe that proper body mechanics are key to limiting discomfort and assuring proper healing of an injury. I have two wonderful daughters that have recently left the nest. I've visited Colorado and Idaho often, and have dreamt of living in a small ski town. I enjoy skiing, hiking, skating, traveling, listening to live music, and playing pickleball. I look forward to getting to know the people of Steamboat!
