The human body is extremely adaptable, and with the right approach, we can significantly reduce the need for surgical and pharmaceutical interventions.
Blood Flow Restriction, or "BFR," is a type of therapy that allows patients to increase muscle size and strength with lighter loads than traditional strength training. Our skilled physical therapists apply pressure to the patient's limb using an external device (similar to a blood pressure cuff) to limit oxygen supply to the muscle, which causes the body to switch from aerobic to anaerobic metabolism.
Dry needling is a skilled intervention that uses a fine needle or Acupuncture needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular, and connective tissues for the management of neuro-musculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. This technique is used to treat dysfunction in skeletal muscle, fascia, and connective tissue to diminish persistent peripheral nociceptive input.
Laser therapy uses light to favor and accelerate the body's natural healing processes. The light energy enters the damaged cells and stimulates inter-cellular activity which reduces pain in the area and speeds recovery of the damaged cells.
Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), is a modality used to increase motor unit recruitment of an affected muscle. NMES is most commonly utilized on the quadriceps muscle following knee surgery, but other common applications include the calf, hamstrings, shoulder, and glutes.
